Vocational College in Brief

In our multidisciplinary college the students are trained for future professional skills. The latest technology and the traditional working methods are combined in the tutoring in all seven study fields.

There are more than 20 initial vocational qualifications to choose from in our college. The students come to us primarily after finishing comprehensive school, but in many qualifications there are study places for students with a matriculation exam as well. Altogether there are about 3,000 students. The application for studies takes place through the national joint application procedure.

The initial vocational qualification demands full-time studies and takes three years to complete, of which at least 20 weeks are carried out as on-the-job learning. Vocational skills demonstrations are included in the studies, which are carried out and assessed according to the national curriculum.

The vocational qualification includes

  • vocational studies and on-the-job learning (90 credits)
  • core subjects, common to all qualifications (20 credits)
  • free-choice studies (10 credits)

After graduation the students have the necessary skills to successfully work in their chosen profession and know-how to be an initiative team member or an individual entrepreneur. If of interest, further studies for a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree can be carried out at a polytechnic or a university. In all fields of study it is possible to achieve both a vocational qualification and pass a matriculation examination at the same time.
